Background

Our conference in 2016 followed up on themes from our 2015 conference at Stanford University, where we gathered about 320 peers and colleagues to talk about future challenges in higher education. One of our featured speakers in 2015 was Peter Norvig, head of research at Google in California and also known as the one who pioneered MOOCs together with Sebastian Thrum.

In 2015 our attendees came from Stanford University, UC Berkeley, University of Texas at Austin, Harvard, MIT, UN, Georgetown University, Oxford (UK), and a range of other North American universities. The Nordic presence came through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nordic Innovation, University of Helsinki, University of Oslo, University of Aarhus and several more.

In 2016, the audience was much more European. We counted about 320 participants, all present at the University of Agder for three full days of conferencing.
